      <image:title>Philosophy Courses - The Yama Study</image:title>
      <image:caption>What are The Yamas? The Yamas are moral restraints that focus on social and ethical behaviors, which allow you to peacefully coexist with others. What will this study teach me? How to apply yoga philosophy to your physical practice, your mind-body connection, your environment, and relationships with yourself and others. How to break through limiting beliefs. How to identify and transform old patterns and behaviors through journaling. How to build a daily meditation practice. How much time will I need each day? To be successful in this program you will need about 2 hours daily to devote to this study. Consider breaking the 2 hours into smaller intervals; maybe 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour in the evening. What’s included? A comprehensive, beautifully designed online materials. Printable PDF’s with all the information that is offered digitally, which includes a daily checklist. Audio meditations. 60-minute yoga video. If you are a Yoga Alliance Member, you can apply 10 hours towards YA-CEU’s.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>There are three main types of stretches: Static Stretching Facilitated Stretching Dynamic Stretching</image:caption>

      <image:title>Anatomy - 4. Types of Stretches - Static Stretching</image:title>
      <image:caption>There are two categories of static stretching Active Static Stretching where you contract the antagonist muscle (a muscle that opposes the action of another), resulting in a phenomenon called “reciprocal inhibition” where the central nervous system signals the target muscle to relax. Passive Static Stretching is when we relax into a stretch using our body weight to stretch the muscles, such as when practicing Yin or restorative Yoga.</image:caption>

    <image:image>
      <image:loc>https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/6036c62a2cb2ed457e509ff1/1620496713558-G2SGMSXP409OYLTI98JU/unsplash-image-aLpt9nRnnDQ.jpg</image:loc>
      <image:title>Anatomy - 4. Types of Stretches - Facilitated Stretching</image:title>
      <image:caption>This type of stretching contracts the muscle being stretched during an active static stretch. This stretch is known as a PNF stretch (proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation). When doing this type of stretch it’s important to remember to gently contract the stretched muscle to avoid any excessive joint reaction. You contract the target muscle with resistance in the targeted joint, holding the resistance with about 30% of your strength for 10 seconds and then you release it and bring it closer , you can do up to 3 rounds. After this type of stretch, the muscle fibers will get longer and there will be an increase of the range of motion within the targeted joint.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Anatomy - 4. Types of Stretches - Dynamic Stretching</image:title>
      <image:caption>As vinyasa practitioners we use this type of stretching while performing repetitive movements of the body into increasingly deeper stretches such as when we practice Sun A and B. When you do this type of stretch in the morning it “resets” the resting muscle length for the day!</image:caption>
